The Inspiration Behind our Aphrodite + Adonis

Written by Meredith Corning

Legend has it that the history of rose quartz is steeped in the passionate love, lust and rejection between Aphrodite and Adonis.  The creation of rose quartz came about when a jealous and enraged God of War, Ares, attacked Adonis disguised as a wild boar.  Aphrodite rushed to save him when she became caught on a briar bush.  Their mingled blood stained the white quartz to pink.  Because of this myth, rose quartz had become a symbol of reconciliation in love.

When Pantone released rose quartz and serenity blue as the new color trend, our team was intrigued by the myths surrounding rose quartz and the deep, dark nature of its legendary existence in juxtaposition to its soft, pastel tones.

How would we create a story through imagery that reflected this dark ambiance, yet showcased the softness associated with this color palette?  Oh, and this really intense thing called love, which we rarely see in the form of agonized, unbridled passion realized in a bridal shoot...how would we pull this off?
The most important step was sourcing the perfect environment which reflected a mysterious omnipresence, and exuded pure, sultry vibes encased in harsh edges.

We found the perfect location buried deep in the woods of Parthenon, Arkansas.  A hidden jewel tucked away for the elite to escape and only a pin drop on Google Maps, no physical address.  A helipad at the base of the driveway welcomes those clients who want to "drop in" to get away from the brutality of the world and retreat into the depths of what else?  A luxury cave dwelling equipped for a king and visited by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Bill and Hillary Clinton and many more over the years who have enjoyed its seclusion (or at least those are the unspoken whispers as privacy is foremost when visiting this location).
